Christmas Decorating on a Budget

A lot of the time we have the holiday blues. Doesn't it even occur to you that maybe, just maybe, it doesn't seem like Christmas because it doesn't look like Christmas? You don't have to have a huge budget to remind yourself to be jolly! Below are simple, CHEAP, and fun things to do with your family. Decorate and know that your not emptying your wallet. Take that little extra that you saved and throw in on a family gift!

1. Snowflakes: Yes, that's right. Snowflakes. All you need is paper, scissors, tape, string, and a little time. That little thing that made you so happy when you were 8 can be a craft to make your home look fit for the holidays. It brings thoughts of kids, fun, and Christmas!

2. Gifts on the Wall: You don't have enough money for other decorations. That's fine. All you need here is just wrapping paper, (Pick a nice kind that isn't too busy.) scissors, tape, and bows. All those picture frames on your wall can be covered and left hanging on the wall. Wrap them, stick a bow in the top left corner, and BAM! Gift on the wall. Looks amazing!

3. Pine Cone Centerpiece: This is easier if you live in the country, however, you can purchase cones at walmart or other craft store. You will need pine cones, basket, a ribbon, one bouquet of Christmas flowers, a styrofoam block, and a hot glue gun. (and if you want fake snow to spray on the cones, or even silver glitter) Put the block in the basket, strategically stick the flowers in one at a time, glue the cones in around the flowers (sporadically), put the pretty bow on the front of the basket. You can put this on the table, coffee table, or window!

4. For the Tree: Get some little glittery gift bows that you would buy for a ring box and hooks. You can hang these from your tree. Just make sure they are not on the very edge of the branch or you will be able to tell the are not supposed to go on there. Other wise, they are very nice looking shining in your tree lights.

5. For the Tree: (I do this one EVERY year.) You can get little red bows that are made to put on wreaths and put them all over the tree and it looks old fashioned and very beautiful. No matter how many you put on, they are amazingly goregous! You can not go over-bored with these!

6. Gifts on Your Table: A lot like the picture thing. To mix it up, grab a couple different sized boxes that wont take up your table space to bad. Wrap them to match the pictures, or color cordinate different wrapping papers. Wrap them and stack them. To make sure it stays the way you want, glue on on top of the other. Catty corner them, of course.

7. REMEMBER: Lights are not just for trees or outside! You can take a strand and wrap it around a poll located in the "Christmas Zone" or even in a door way.

8. Pine Vines: You can wrap these around different areas of your house, put lights enter twined with them in door ways, stair cases, or draped over you hanging presents.

9. Have a reddish blanket? Drape it over your couch to bring the furniture into the decorations!

10. Cotton: This looks like snow. You can tape some at the bottom of the clump. Put the clumps in your window sills if your not into fake snow. (HINT: If you do use fake snow, finger nail polish remover works the best! After scrapping off the window, just go over it with a soaked paper towel.)
